Nevada is rich in historical resources housed in its archives, libraries, historical repositories, museums, special collections, and state and local government agencies. The collaborative nature of Nevada's statewide digitization projects has recently been formalized with a series of advisory committee meetings and community forums that developed a shared vision and identified long term goals allowing for the wise and effective use of available resources in Nevada to support the state's digital resources.
Through this effort, the Nevada State Library and Archives, in conjunction with representatives from the library, archive and museum communities, and other interested allied information providers, have developed a statewide digital plan intended to guide the development of Nevada’s digital collections. The statewide digital plan provides a framework for the development and implementation of Nevada’s digital library and archives, with a shared vision and responsibility to preserve, protect, and make the states' unique heritage available. One desired outcome of the initial work was the stated goal to "Provide online access to digital collections held by Nevada cultural heritage organizations and allied information providers that are distributed throughout Nevada." This portal is intended to serve as a common gateway to various digital collections hosted throughout Nevada's libraries, archives, museums, and allied information providers.
We hope you enjoy your visit, and hope that this Nevada Digital Collections Portal helps provide an introduction and/or entry point to the rich digital collections created by Nevada's cultural heritage institutions. This site is a work in progress and will grow over time. More information can be found at the Nevada Statewide Digital Initiative site.
